Support and integrate with the federated social web
The front page of MDN shows a long list of Twitter posts. We'd love to give you better control of your social media presence with an Open Source Web platform on StatusNet. Having your own StatusNet site would integrate with walled gardens like Facebook and Twitter as well as open social systems like Google Buzz and identi.ca. Mozilla is a leader on the Open Web; we'd love to make you a successful part of the open social web, too.
We’ve decided that we won’t be spending any more time trying to get social streams integrated into MDN. We plan to focus more on the docs and forums as major features and content for the audience.

So, as you probably know, identi.ca and StatusNet support the Twitter API, so whatever tools you're using for the MDN Web site will almost definitely work with an identi.ca or mozilla.status.net account. Also, it's easy to tunnel your StatusNet site into Twitter and Facebook, so you can continue having a big reach but still support open web technologies.
Like I said, we're willing to help. We want the MDN home page to reflect the Mozilla organization's stated principles -- including support for open standards and decentralized systems. There are volunteers and professionals who are willing to put in the time to make this happen; I hope you take advantage of their offers.

It would be great to see a dialogue between StatusNet & Mozilla about how we could better manage our social media presence with mozilla.status.net .

Actually, you could run status.mozilla.org as a StatusNet instance and have it power many of your sites.
